Orientation to study

Mental Health Course Orientation Program

Many of our students are new to studying online or are returning to study after a break. Our orientation programs in the myHETI learning environment will ensure you feel confident and ready to study.

myHETI is your user-friendly online learning environment

Student access to myHETI, login details will be sent out prior to semester commencement, providing your enrolment has been finalized. Prior to semester and during your first weeks you can:

  • Explore the step-by-step orientation unit “Student Essentials” within myHETI. Here you will find resources, be able to access support services and connect with your fellow students
  • Join in a live orientation session with your Unit Coordinator using Zoom web conferencing software
  • Message staff for assistance via myHETI
  • Contact a Cohort Convenor or our IT department for assistance

myHETI is your one stop shop for access to seminars, lectures, readings, web forums and video and audio podcasts that will create an interactive and engaging learning experience.

Your assessments will be submitted and marked online, providing timely access to your marks and feedback.

Learning online

To learn online all you need is:

  • a computer, tablet or similar
  • access to the internet and a modern web browser - myHETI works best with Google Chrome
  • a current email address
  • ability to save documents in Microsoft Office format
  • audio/video playback capabilities
  • a web cam and microphone

To participate in tutorials and discussions you will need to download “Zoom”, a free and user friendly web conferencing software. You can download Zoom here. It is recommended to use headphones with Zoom which can improve the sound quality.

Most students find our learning environment and software user-friendly. If you experience any difficulties, please don’t hesitate to contact a Cohort Convenor or our IT department.

On campus

Students in the Psychiatric Medicine courses usually can choose to study onsite at our North Parramatta Campus, however, due to the pandemic, all learning is now completed online.
