At HETI Higher Education we understand that unexpected events can happen and students may experience distress related to personal or difficult events.
We encourage you to contact us as early as possible to discuss support options as all assessments are expected to be submitted by the due date to avoid a late penalty which is 5% per day. We would like to support you early in the process to reduce stress at a difficult time.
If you experience an unexpected event or misadventure, you can contact your Unit Coordinator via email to request an extension of up to one week from your assessment due date. You will need to provide your Unit Coordinator with a reason, however no documentation is required to support the application.
If your studies are affected by an unexpected event or misadventure for more than one week, you can apply for special consideration.
Applications are made using the Special Consideration Form and should be sent to your Unit Coordinator and Student Support Officer for approval and processing.
You will need to attach evidence supporting your special consideration request, such as a medical certificate or Statutory Declaration.
Certification of some forms of supporting documentation may be required. Additional information on certification is available here.
If you are affected by a longer term condition or disability, we encourage you to contact a Student Support Officer [link find a staff member] so we can support you with an ongoing arrangement. For more information please see Accessibility. [link to page]
