The purpose of this module is to support health professionals in providing recovery-oriented and evidence-based mental health care in the perinatal period.

Students will develop skills to identify a range of disorders including anxiety and depression, suicidality, and low -prevalence disorders.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the unit, students will be able to:

  • Identify a range of psychiatric conditions encountered both in pregnancy and the postpartum. These include anxiety and depression as well as low -prevalence disorders; and
  • Demonstrate an understanding of recovery-oriented and evidence-based approaches for supporting the emotional well-being of parental mental health in the perinatal period
