This unit will help you navigate what can seem an overwhelming variety of opinions regarding what is the ‘right approach’ to engaging and providing support to people with mental ill health.

You will explore how to apply principles of partnership and collaborative practice to engage with people with mental ill health and their carers in your own context, and critically evaluate core elements that are the heart of effective resilience building strategies and therapeutic approaches.


Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the unit, students will be able to:

  • Apply principles of partnership and collaborative decision making in optimising engagement of people with mental ill health and their supporters; and
  • Critically evaluate the application of common elements of effective resilience building strategies and therapeutic approaches in working with people with mental ill health
