Recommended Unit: Core Therapeutic Skills (8ALF006) * Recommended to complete prior to studying 8ALF016.

This unit will introduce common elements of successful therapy across different schools of thought, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Learners will use scenarios to consider the perspective of a person undertaking a structured therapy. No experience as a therapist is required, however it is recommended that learners have previously completed the Core Therapeutic Skills unit (8ALF006).

Upon completion of the unit, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the core principles of structured therapies;
  2. Examine the perspective of an individual undertaking a structured therapy in a specific life stage/health setting.
