Level ~ Graduate Diploma

Type ~ Lifespan Unit

Mental healthcare is enabled by collaboration between individuals: within therapeutic contexts and between professionals. Yet mental healthcare also has many disputed boundaries: between organisations, professions and roles. In this unit you will explore core concepts of interprofessional practice that enable collaboration that enhances outcomes for both people with lived experience and the professionals who work with them. The unit provides an opportunity to consider how these principles apply to working with those with lived experience as partners in contemporary mental healthcare.

Upon completion of the unit, students will be able to:

  1. Examine the aspects of inter-professional collaborative decision making that impact on effective treatment choices within your role and setting;
  2. Apply inter-professional principles to working with those with lived experience as partners in contemporary mental healthcare.
