This unit introduces assessment of mental health and the process of care planning. Strengths-Based assessment will be defined and modelled for multiple professional practice settings.

The process of care planning will be examined with the key focus of adaptation for the biopsychosocial environment of individuals. Students will evaluate and improve an assessment and care plan as their assessment.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the unit, students will be able to:

  • Describe and define strength-based assessment;
  • Examine application of strengths-based assessment using a biopsychosocial  framework; and
  • Demonstrate a critical understanding of care planning consistent with your own workplace/ situation.
