Applied Mental Health Studies

Our newly designed program will equip students to lead recovery-oriented, clinical care of people with lived experience of mental illness. This program promotes a person-centred care approach to working with consumers, their carers and families.

From the outset, students select their preferred specialisation within the lifespan and use this as a basis for their educational pathway. Specialisations include:

  • Perinatal and Infant
  • Child and Adolescent
  • Adult
  • Older Person

Course Overview

Study at HETI

Online Learning

Flexibility through online study is a key aspect to learning for today's students as they strive to access quality education while managing study commitments with work and home life.

On Campus Study

Psychiatric Medicine students can attend face to face classes at our campus in North Parramatta. The campus is located within the historical grounds of Cumberland Hospital.

Blended Learning

As Psychiatric Medicine students have the option of attending face to face classes or studying online, they also can choose to mix these study modes as they arrange their studies around work and home commitments.

Levels of Study

Students of postgraduate courses can choose to study Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters level. This gives students the opportunity to exit with a recognised accredited award at a point appropriate to their needs.

Application to Practice

HETI Higher Education programs have been designed to be more than theory and have a strong workplace application and relevance focus.

Recovery-oriented philosophy

Underpinning our mental health education and training is a philosophy of recovery-oriented practice.

Interprofessional Collaboration

Postgraduate students will join a community of leading mental health specialist educators, clinicians and people with lived experience, to improve the mental health and wellbeing of people in NSW and beyond.

Flexible Study Options

We provide the option of electing to study a standalone unit. Studying a single unit is a great option for students who wish to take the first step without committing to a full course.

Innovative Learning

At HETI we have invested in innovative learning systems and technologies to ensure we provide a high quality and engaging student experience.

HETI Higher Education

HETI now delivers accredited higher education courses, adding more diversity to its existing wide-ranging education and training programs.
